Chicago Bass Fishing

Capt. Ryan Witacre

Come experience one of the most unique bass fishing locations in the country!

People are shocked at how good the smallmouth bass fishing is within sight of the iconic Chicago skyline. I have spent over 20 years with southern Lake Michigan as my home fishery and am happy to be able to share this experience with you.

Casting artificial lures on medium, to medium light spinning tackle is my preferred way to target these fish. Catching a 3lb + smallmouth on light tackle is something every angler should experience.  Let me eliminate the hassle of towing a boat through the traffic and city streets and show you what this often stellar fishery has to offer.

Chasing Trophies Guide Service

Erik Brztowski

I'm 22 years old and I have fished since I was 11 years old.  My family has had a cabin up in central Wisconsin and I've been fishing the Wisconsin River for over 10 years and I've fallen in love with the fishery. I also guide on surrounding lakes in the area. When you book a trip with me expect to not only catch fish, but to learn how to have a good day on the water and locate fish. My goal is to cater to your needs, whether you just want to go out and catch fish or focus on learning. We can mold our day to your liking!

Captain Curtis “Cletus” Cecchi

Raised in Saint Charles, Illinois. Curtis got hooked on fishing young. “It all started when my dad put a rod in my hands at the age of four and I caught my first black bass out of a retention pond in Fairfield, California back in 1999.” He has been fishing ever since. From the Mangroves of Florida, to the wild rivers of Alaska, Curtis has fished all over the United States. At the age of 27, he has over 20 years angling experience, 8 of which were spent competitively fishing for Bass in high school and at collegiate level for the University of South Carolina. It goes without saying that Curtis has a fish brain on his shoulders. When Curtis discovered the Northwoods of Wisconsin, he decided to make Vilas County home for a reason. “Fishing opportunities up here are like no where else.”

Curtis is a  U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain with ratings inland and on the Great Lakes. He is also a CPR certified and a registered EMR with the Presque Isle Fire Department. You could hardly fish with anyone more qualified to ensure your safety out on the water while getting you to the fish.

Silver Bullet

Capt. Jeremee Curtis

Like a lot of other kids, it all began with Grandpa fishing for panfish. Then bugging Grandma to drop me off at the pier at 5:30am to float shrimp for Skamania Steelhead. At 14 I began working at the Fishin Hole Tackle Shop in Saint Joesph for big Charlie. Fishing with Uncle Ron on the river when I could. Jumping on whichever boat asking, Denny Niedlinger of Pro King Spoons. Tony Wiatrowski got my addiction set in high school for trolling the lake.

Between playing sports, umpiring, working at the bait shop, fishing, hunting with friends, I started to become a first mate aboard charter boats at 16. Thank you Capt Mel and many other Captains who gave me the opportunity to learn from them. My Junior year of high school I was no longer able to play Hockey due to to many concussions... so there was only one solution. Fish more.

After high school I was blessed to fish a professional tournament circuit throughout Lake Michigan aboard Break Time, promoting Morgans Tackle Company. Thank you Jim Bellman. Spending countless days and hours traveling to fish and promote copper fishing line. The time was worth it and the results on the boards showed in the short time. After a few years with Jim, I was blessed to work for Dave Engle aboard Best Chance Too. At this age I was 22 and never thought id be in this situation. It was a great experience going from port to port each week, meeting and working with new fishermen who became friends in short time. After some short time working with Dave and fishing tournaments, my drive for competition had expired.

Finally get to go to home port Saint Joseph. Never would have thought Russ Clark of Sea Hawk would ask me to Co Captain for him. We clicked. By now I have thrown a couple river tournaments and one lake tournament for non-profit organizations. I did not compete in these due to the enjoyment of watching others compete instead, and love for a good time. Through those years, fall through winter I fished the river.... heavy. Many life lessons learned as well.

At 23 in 2017 I was blessed and able to start my own river business that operates October through first week of April for steelhead, allowing me to fish 12 months a year between Lake Michigan and the St. Joseph River. Each day, my drive never dies to see the smile on peoples face when we’re on the water! Very thankful for the blessing in life and throughout the fishing industry. The love and support from my family and friends is more than i could ask for. This wouldn't be possible without you
