The summertime bite is here, tons of bass are being caught in local ponds and lakes. Frogs, swim jigs, and punching baits have been working great. Bluegill are still pushed up shallow, small swimbaits and plastics have been working great for them. lots of reports of steelhead on the lake front, Portage, and Michigan City have been producing some great fish, if steelhead aren't your cup of tea the smallmouth are all pushing up in the harbors. Catfish are very abundant in the local lakes as well as at Braidwood and Lasalle lake. Cut bait has been working great for the blues, and stinkbait has been tearing up the channel cats. Moral of the story is even in the crazy heat the fish are still biting, so get out there, stay cool and catch some fish!
