Salmon: Reports from Port Washington and Pierre Marquet show anglers catching better size and numbers of King Salmon. We are predicting shore anglers to start catching Kings in the next 2-3 weeks from the northern and eastern south shore harbors. Salmon are coming, and it is expected to be a great year. We just received an extensive restock of Moonshine Casting Spoons along with some more trolling spoons and dodgers from Moonshine.
Bass: Its tough to not catch a bass right now, be it a lake, river, or local pond. We have had some great reports from Lemont Quarries, Kankakee River State Park, Mallard Lake, and Mazonia. However, everyone is catching bass right now. Focus on grass in the fisheries that have it by using a Frog, Punch Rig, Swim Jig and Large Swimbait. For Live Bait anglers, it is best to use a Medium or Large Roach Minnow or a Medium Sucker.
Bluegill: Great panfish reports all around, with Crappie being the slowest but still good for August. Bluegill have been great at local fisheries like Monee Reservoir, Wolf Lake, Kankakee River, Lemont Quarries, Mazonia, Turtlehead, Milliken Lake coming to mind from recent reports. Don't forget that Wisconsin also has fantastic bluegill fishing for large slabs this time of year. Try some of the favorites for plastics like Bobby Garland, Gulp! Alive, and Brushpile. Redworms and Beemoth/Wax Worms are doing great for Live Bait anglers.
